London man raises awareness about heart health

LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) – February marks American Heart Month, a time to raise awareness and promote heart health, it’s something a London man is now taking more seriously.

John Adams said he was working one day when he started having trouble breathing and broke out into sweats. Adams didn’t know it then but he was having a heart attack.

Adams checked in to Saint Joseph Hospital where doctors found a complete blockage of his widow-maker artery, an often deadly condition.

Adams had surgery and returned home to London this week. He said the situation was a wake-up call and that he now plans to take his health more seriously.

“God has other plans for me since I’m still here. Just take care of your health and enjoy time with your loved ones because life is too short,” said Adams.

Doctors said other conditions that could potentially lead to a heart attack include pain in the chest or upper body, fatigue, and shortness of breath.

Medical experts said regular checkups are important to make sure symptoms don’t develop into something more serious.
